Neighborhood Employment Centers: Benefits to Business
Neighborhood Employment Centers obviously offer invaluable career services to job seekers. But, what about benefits to local businesses? Benefits to businesses can include a number of things such as pre-screening of qualified applicants, exposure to incumbent worker training programs, tax credits for participation and support, and positive PR via partnerships within the community. Scott Baker, owner of 5 Generation Bakers in Pittsburgh, PA, will discuss all of these during the April 23rd broadcast of Career Talk on KQV AM 1410. You can also tune in online at www.kqv.com. We would like to know your opinion as well? What are the real benefits to local businesses?

Not so much a comment on benefits per se, but I'd like to know more about tax credits and related programs. Hopefully the radio show will cover this topic.
ReplyDeleteAlso want to say that the advent of a radio program on workforce related topics is a terrific idea--looking forward to your show.
Tax credits come in different forms. The most commonly known is something called the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC), which is awarded to a company that hires a veteran, ex-offender or other qualified population. Our career center in Pittsburgh awards tax credits to companies that make financial contributions to support our center. These credits are valued at approximately 80% of every dollar a for-profit company would invest. This is made possible through something called Neighborhood Partnership Program (NPP.)
ReplyDeleteI am sure there are a myriad of other programs. If others have knowledge of these, please feel free to share.
